What is RFID?

time2024/08/05

RFID electronic tags are used to transmit data to RFID readers, and then the RFID reader converts the radio signal into usable data. The reader transmits the data obtained from the electronic tag to the computer system through the communication interface. The data can be stored in the database for us to extract and use when we need the data. At the same time, the data interface can also be connected to the smart screen, so that we can realize some real-time monitoring applications.

What is RFID?

Radio frequency identification (RFID) is a wireless communication technology, commonly known as "electronic tags". It can identify specific targets and read and write related data through radio signals without establishing mechanical or optical contact between the identification system and the specific target. Its main principle is to send the data attached to the object to automatically identify and track the object; during the identification process, the electronic tag can obtain energy from the identifier or have its own power supply. The electronic tag contains electronically stored information. Unlike general scanning identification, the radio frequency electronic tag does not need to be within the line of sight of the identifier and can also be directly embedded in the object.Image
How RFID technology works
RFID electronic tags are used to transmit data to RFID readers, and then the RFID reader converts the radio signal into usable data. The reader transmits the data obtained from the electronic tag to the computer system through the communication interface. The data can be stored in the database for us to extract and use when we need the data. At the same time, the data interface can also be connected to the smart screen, so that we can realize some real-time monitoring applications.
Application of RFID technology
Access card (identity recognition)
An integrated RFID-SIM chip is embedded in the ticket, and the functions of ticket selection and return are realized in the mobile terminal user interface. At the same time, a unique sequence can be obtained when reading the ticket (when reading the electronic tag) to ensure the accuracy of identification. For example, the RFID tickets used in the Shanghai World Expo effectively alleviated the shortage of human resources caused by the daily passenger flow of about 500,000.
Healthcare and medical industry
There will be similar needs in the field of healthcare. We can monitor drugs in real time, understand the quantity of goods in real time, and prevent the goods from being lost inexplicably; RFID electronic tags can also be placed in the patient's wristband so that doctors can scan and confirm the patient's personal information and medical records.
Car and bicycle rental industry
Shared bicycles and cars for rental can also use RFID technology to detect vehicle returns. You only need to install RFID readers at designated parking spots. When users park bicycles or cars at designated parking spots, RFID readers will automatically detect vehicle information, and the backend will automatically handle the return of the car. At the same time, our backend managers can also know the parking information of the vehicle. The application of RFID technology in the automobile and bicycle rental industry can well supplement GPS and reduce the cost of our application on GPS.
RFID-based ETC toll collection system
Similar to scanning code payment, the radio frequency identifier directly scans the electronic tag installed on the car window as the vehicle passes by, and uses the short-range communication between the tag and the toll station to pay the fee directly after connecting to the network, so as to achieve the effect of paying the fee without stopping.
RFID technology will be deeply integrated with cloud computing, big data, artificial intelligence and other technologies to achieve more efficient, smarter and safer data transmission and processing. At the same time, RFID technology will continue to innovate and optimize, improve recognition speed and accuracy, reduce costs and power consumption, and expand the scope and scale of application.
